Because you’re no longer a kid.
Because popping bubble gum is no longer cool.
Because popularity is not the final goal.
Because the length of your school skirt is no longer a concern.
Because jumping in puddles ruins formal clothes.
Because you now have to wash said formal clothes.
Because stupidity is no longer cute.
Because dropping ice cream is plain clumsy.
Because you are what you eat.
Because red hair is no longer acceptable.
Because late nights are not followed by late mornings.
Because you can’t live in isolation.
Because you can’t ignore.
Because opinions matter.
Because judgements rule.
Because emotions need to be understood.
Because your ego is no longer a defence.
Because you want to protect.
Because you want to feel safe.
Because you care.
Because you believe.
Because you’ve messed enough with people.
Because you’ve messed enough with yourself.

I think we should meet once and have a long chat.
@RB - I think we should.
Cool! So next time you're in Delhi or I happen to be in Bombay, we should connect.
Till then, you know what to do to feel good! :)
Just amazing. Heart-touching.
written very well. however the writer starts like he/she has made a choice to grow up etc...however as its progresses it seems more like he/shes cornered into the matter...more like he/she is being told to and doesn't have much of a choice. kinda contradictory dont ya think??
D
@ Spectator - Thanks :)
@ Anonymous - I would say its absolutely the opposite. The small things you're told not to do are just harmless. The big ones you realise on your own...almost a little too late...and are painful.
hmm...it was a very interesting read BTW. thanks and guess you are rte. and its not anonymous its D
Just as gold is tested in a furnace, more often than not, events that are envisaged as "painful", turn out to be defining moments that shape us into people who we have always strived to be...
@ D - Should I know you??
@Anonymous - True, but the pain dulls away only in the long term...you end up hurting many on the way.
